BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN KODAGU VIDYALAYA

Kodagu Vidyalaya of Madikeri is a popular school catering to the educational needs of the district. It was founded in 1981 by Sri B.S. Kushalappa, an eminent educationist and speaker of the Legislative Council of the erstwhile Sate of Kodagu. He had the support of such elderly personalities like Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa , who became its chief patron and many other like-minded people.

 
To start with, the Vidyalaya had a student strength of just 30. Today it has grown to 920 The school is situated in the most beautiful natural surrounding, atop a hill, with verdant hills and enjoys excellent cool weather throughout the year. This land of an extent of 8 acres was donated by Sri. C. D. Bopiah and his brother Sri C. B. Deviah of Madikeri.
 
Collaboration arrangements with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in the past 32 years, the Vidyalaya has grown from strength to strength and has rightly been identified as a worthy partner of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan with which it has on September1, 2004, entered into a Memorandum of understanding for collaboration. The professionalism of the Bhavan and the abundant resources of the Vidyalaya have been pooled together to serve a common cause of fostering a sound and healthy generation in the coming years.
